Selina's Priorities
Addressing Homelessness:
Selina believes that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. She is committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate support to help individuals experiencing homelessness transition off the streets and into stable housing and essential services. This means investing in wraparound care that includes mental health support, substance use treatment, job training, and access to permanent supportive housing. By working in close partnership with service providers, outreach teams, and community organizations, Selina will advocate for policies and programs that not only respond to immediate needs but also address the root causes of homelessness—ensuring long-term stability and dignity for our most vulnerable neighbors. Selina views this issue as an urgent, day-one priority.
Responsible Budgeting, Lowering Costs:
As an entrepreneur, Selina knows what it’s like to manage a tight budget. From day one, Selina will work to ensure that Tucson residents’ money is being used as effectively as possible. She will work to identify opportunities where the City can save money with the goal of being able to lower costs for every Tucson resident.
Protecting Our Neighborhoods and Public Safety:
Selina believes that everyone deserves to feel safe in the communities they call home and we need to strengthen ties between our community and those who serve us. That means implementing policies and oversight that encourage smart, community-centered public safety while ensuring our first responders have the resources necessary to keep us all safe.
Community-Focused Economic Development:
Selina is committed to investing in small businesses, local entrepreneurs, and artists to help build a resilient local economy. She believes a thriving local economy is essential to the overall success of our community. By providing support that helps local businesses and entrepreneurs thrive, Selina will work to create a Ward 5 community where innovation, creativity, and opportunity can flourish. She is dedicated to actively engaging with business owners to understand their needs and challenges, and to working collaboratively to develop programs that offer access to resources, capital, and mentorship. By championing the success of our local businesses, we can generate new job opportunities, foster economic independence, and lay the foundation for generational wealth across our neighborhoods.
High Quality, Affordable Housing:
Selina is committed to expanding access to quality housing options that meet the diverse needs of Ward 5 residents. She believes that everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to live, whether they are young families, working individuals, seniors, or longtime community members. Her approach focuses on ensuring that new and existing housing is not only affordable, but also high quality, healthy, and integrated into the vibrant, connected neighborhoods of Ward 5. Selina will advocate for policies that increase the availability of affordable units, support community land trusts, protect tenants from displacement, and encourage development that reflects the character and needs of Ward 5. By prioritizing both affordability and livability, she aims to build a community where residents can put down roots and thrive.
Environmental Justice and A Healthy Environment For All:
Selina is committed to advancing environmental justice by advocating for cleaner air and water, safe and accessible parks, and sustainable infrastructure in every neighborhood. She understands that environmental health is deeply connected to community health and quality of life. Her approach focuses on addressing long-standing environmental disparities and ensuring that all residents, especially those in historically underserved areas can benefit from green spaces, clean energy solutions, and resilient infrastructure. By prioritizing environmental equity, Selina aims to build a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
Safer Streets, Better Parks:
Selina believes that a key issue in Ward 5 is maintaining our infrastructure, and that includes road upgrades and better public transit options If elected to council, she will bring a never-before-seen focus for Ward 5, prioritizing road improvements, improving traffic safety, and increasing public transit – which will create a more connected and secure Ward 5.
Youth Re-Engagement:
Selina believes that young people are not just the future; they are the present, and they deserve meaningful opportunities to grow, lead, and shape our communities. She is committed to re-engaging youth by investing in mentorship programs, educational support, and hands-on leadership development. By creating safe, empowering spaces where young people can connect with mentors, gain valuable skills, and explore career pathways, Selina aims to reduce barriers and help youth feel seen, supported, and inspired. Whether through after-school programs, creative arts, or community service, she will work to ensure that Ward 5’s youth are equipped with the tools they need to thrive and become leaders in their neighborhoods.
